About

Every year, the North Columbus Civitan Club awards the Dr. Samuel Rosen Scholarship. The scholarship goes to students who intend to pursue careers that further the ideals of the Civitan club as a whole. Recipients should also uphold Dr. Rosen's own interests and love for community service.

Dr. Samuel Rosen

From 1962 to 2006 Dr. Samuel Rosen served over 44 years of his life as a member and volunteer for the Northwest Civitan Club. Dr. Rosen held many leadership positions over his career of service to his community. He organized countless fundraisers enabling the support of a variety of local programs that provide assistance to children and adults with special needs. Through his commitment, he brought many new members to serve their community through Civitan.

As Professor Emeritus of the Ohio State University, College of Dentistry, Dr. Rosen was a devoted advocate for students and the promotion of research endeavors. He was an educator since the age of 8 when he taught high school students to play chess and continued this trend throughout his life. His most recent entrepreneurial teaching endeavor was his infection control and biological monitoring business where he assisted local dental offices in OSHA compliance procedures. Dr. Rosen took pride in educating and serving his community in all possible ways.

Dr. Rosen’s legacy to education and to Civitan will be perpetuated through the Civitan-Rosen Scholarship.
